We tend to see wood just as a building or heating material. In SuryaRay Lab  I am exploring the soul withing wood. Each piece we hold once belonged to a unique living breathing and feeling organism that  sprung from a single seed and in its lifetime produced precious oxygen that allows our planet to flourish with such exquisite diversity and artistry.

I connect with it and craft it with great respect and gratitude, while each moment of carving, sanding, varnishing and enveloping dives me deeper into understanding nature. It is extremely humbling to be holding a tiny chunk of wood that once towered as a tree way above me and forming it into magnificent new shape, revealing its spirit. A new life emerging through me, as metamorphosis of a butterfly.
