Ambient light sculptures are created from reclaimed wood or driftwood pieces that have already served their form of mighty living trees. In a symbolic ritual process of transmutation, they are given a new life and a new purpose - to illuminate life's path with their ancient wisdom and warm intimate light to anyone who welcomes them into their space.
Reflecting diversity of nature, they lead me to their unique desired shape, creating a gentle embrace of light that turns a room into a sacred space and a house into a temple.

Wood is more than just a building or heating material. In SuryaRay Lab I am illuminating the spirit of wood. Each SuryaRay Lamp once belonged to a unique living, breathing and feeling organism that sprung from a single seed and produced precious oxygen that allows our planet to flourish with such exquisite diversity and artistry.
I connect with it and craft it with great respect and gratitude, while each moment of carving, sanding, varnishing and enveloping dives me deeper into understanding nature. It is extremely humbling to be holding a tiny chunk of wood that once towered as a tree way above me and forming it into magnificent new shape and purpose.

Handcrafted from a small piece of wood and a gentle cocoon of rice paper, Lamp Shades are designed to be hanged on the wall or ceiling to cover wall lights in your home. They transform your space into a temple, as if you were walking through a mystical hallway of your life's path. On the other hand, the elegance of their shape envelopes your space with a feeling of natural luxury.

Table lamps are made of smaller pieces of wood, which can be standalone or attached to a stand of various reclaimed woods. They offer gentle readable lighting for your precious evenings and an inspiring magical atmosphere to uplift your creativity or give you a relaxing inward time.

Floor lamps become the focal point of your home with their shape rising high and illuminating more space with magical light. They are made usually by merging two pieces of wood into one self standing specie of SuryaRay Lamps.
Textile cable spiralling down like a vine on a tree brings fluidity and elegance to the design.

Each SuryaRay Lamp is completely unique expression of nature, so upon request you will be able to choose from available pieces of wood you want me to work on. After selection we will customize the lamp to suit your preferences. May it be wall light shade, table lamp, floor lamp, chandelier... Bright beige or intimate orange rice paper cocoon. Various textile cable patterns. The choice is yours!
